Why this beats a rental spreadsheet and a deposit envelope

A rental program that actually closes the loop.

Most rental operations track availability in a spreadsheet, take a deposit on a paper imprint, and fight customers later about damage or late returns. NOWAITN Rentals is the closed loop — calendar prevents double-booking, Stripe holds the deposit, custody chain documents the condition, late fees and damage charges run through the same Stripe account.

01

Availability calendars that stop double-booking

Per-item or per-class calendars show what is rented, what is available, and what is on hold. Customers see real availability when they reserve; staff see what is going out today, what is coming back, and what is overdue. No more “sorry, we just rented the last one” after it is already paid for.

Per-item · per-class · per-location calendars
02

Stripe deposit holds and damage charges built in

Stripe puts the deposit on hold at reservation; releases it at clean return; charges all or part of it for damage, late return, or missing items — with the reason logged. No paper imprints, no chargeback fights without evidence, no deposits lost in a drawer.

Hold · release · partial-charge · audit
03

Custody chain on every item

Pickup logs the condition with photos and customer signature; return logs the condition again. NOWAITN Custody keeps the per-item chain — staff who handed it out, condition out, condition in, who returned it, when. When something comes back damaged, you have the evidence.

Pickup → custody chain → return → evidence
Common questions

Rentals, answered.

Anything that lets customers take possession of something temporarily. Construction-equipment rental (skid steers, generators, scaffolding); party and event rentals (tents, tables, chairs, linens, glassware); AV and production rental (cameras, lighting, sound); sports and recreation rental (bikes, skis, surfboards, kayaks); tool rental at hardware stores; baby gear and stroller rental; costume and formalwear rental; musical instrument rental; vehicle and trailer rental; beach gear (umbrellas, chairs, jet skis); medical equipment rental; campus equipment lending. The same rental engine runs all of them.

Those are full-stack rental vendors with their own catalog, reservation, and billing. They are great if you want a vertical-specific rental product. NOWAITN Rentals is the rental workflow integrated with the rest of your operations — Stripe payments, CRM customer records, Custody chain, Assets register, Certifications (where rental requires proof of training). Use the rest of the platform for the rest of your operation.

Stripe places an authorisation hold on the customer card at reservation. On clean return, the hold is released. On damage, late return, or missing items, the hold converts to a charge with the reason logged and a photo or note attached. Customer sees the receipt with the explanation; you have the evidence if disputed.

Yes. Each rental item is also tracked in NOWAITN Assets (the rentable inventory) and NOWAITN Custody (the chain of who had it). Pickup creates a custody handoff to the customer; return creates a custody handoff back to staff. End-to-end accountability per item.
